> what is bilderbook
the bilderbook is my online collection of 'photo galleries' - albums of pictures
I mostly took in Finland and Berlin, but also some pictures of different travels
to Japan, New York, Budapest and Venice, various pictures of monitors, tvs,
cameras, Concerts, and.. more to come.
Currently the bilderbook has seven different sections - the books -
Berlin, Finland,
Japan, Panorama, Music,
Monitor TV and the Tag-e-Book.
Every book contains the photo galleries - the albums - the actual picture
sets.
Every album may be accessed through different projectors:: the SlideBox
(default), the SlotBot, the ScrollAll and the more.txt with some additional
texts, selected pictures and links.
> the different projectors in detail::
the slideBox is representing the classic random slide show - a first,
chaotic way to get to know a album's pictures. By clicking on the picture,
all pictures of the album are presented in random order.
if you find the slide-Box too chaotic, you might prefer accessing a set's
pictures through the scrollAll. From this projector, you may also send
the pictures to friends and family
if you did like the slideBox already, you might just love the slotBot::
three pictures are shown simultanously and can be reloaded randomly either
one by one or all the three at the same time
here you can find further texts and sometimes also links about the album...
as the title moreTxt might already have suggested...
technical details:
bilderbook is a vast collection of scripts, texts and pictures. The back-end-Scripts
are based on PHP4, some function require a mySQL-Database, the front-end-Scripts
are done in JavaScript.
The panorama pictures are made with PTMac, you'll need the QuickTime plug-in if
you want to see some of the 360° pictures in the panorama section. For
details about navigating these panoramas click here.
> why is bilderbook
in first place the bilderbook was a way for presenting the pictures i took
with my first digital camera - an Olympus Camedia.
My first camera... and so on. And then i had my first Lomo. I began taking more
- and different Photos than before. Taking Lomos was more and more fun and after
a while i just couldn't afford this any more.
My first digital camera released me from this pain. It was a Camedia by Olympus.
With this digital Camera i couln't take 'real Lomos' any more - but at least
i could afford it to take pictures when-ever and where-ever. It became my visual
dictaphone - or "dictating-machine" :)
I started taking pictures here and there and everywhere - and soon i had to
look for an appropriate platform where i could keep all these pictures. To print
them out and materialze them was not an option.
Additionally people actually asked me if i could mail them the pictures i took
(if you have a digital camera yourself you might know this phenomena). And so
i started posting them on the www.
From the very beginning i had these JavaScripts running - so that the online-collection
would also be a training program for me and my skills. My first skript running
on bilderbook was actually the so called lomo-board, a skript that ruined not
only my but also my visitors' nerves completely. It was a 3x3 matrix of pictures
in randomly arranged, reloaded and rearranged every 30 seconds. The basic idea
of it was to simulate this picture-arrangement which i also used to call "LOMO-GRAM"
- back in the good old times of analog Lomography - a couple of pictures arranged
and combined to one large picture - representing 'one day' or 'a trip to..."'
or a 'birthday party'.
Since then many updates tranformed the bilderbook to what it is today: i moved
the bilderbook to its own domain, added some panorama pictures, changed the
layout, dumped the old lomo-board-skript and added some other skripts (the SlideBox,
the ScrawlAll, the SlotBot, ...) and of cause also uploaded some more picture
sets :)
