We were once again invited to spend a relaxed christmas holiday in one of the
cosy little wooden houses, doing nothing but eating, reading, going to sauna,
have a look outside and then go right back to sauna.
Around the corner there is a first-class skiing area, one of Finlands largest
skiing areas. This time we didn't try skiing yet, but had immense fun on some
Snow-Cats that N.'s father rented for a short trip through the woods - until
an ice-fisher informed us that we had obviously lost track and were quite close
to the Finnish-Russian border. Well. Back we went. Kiitos!
Other possible winter activities in Ruka: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing
(Finnland is a paradise for cross-country skiing!) and actually everything that
you's like to do in the snow: Finland's North is snow-safe aproximately until
the end of April / beginning of May.
